Notes for Edgar Raymond HABBERSETT

Edgar R. Habbersett, 76, the president of Habbersett Bros. Inc. - makers of scrapple and sausage - died Monday at his home in Middletown Township, Delaware County.
Mr. Habbersett was president of the company for 42 years.
Habbersett was incorporated in the 1860s by Esmond H. Habbersett and Isaac S. Habbersett. Before incorporating, the family had made scrapple for 100 years.
Mr. Habbersett, a lifelong resident of Middletown Township, was a graduate of Media High School, Staunton (Va.) Military Academy, Peirce Business College and Duke University, where he received a degree in business in 1942.
He was a member of the Concordville Rotary for 34 years and was named a Paul Harris Fellow for his 34 years of continuous weekly attendance.
Mr. Habbersett served on the board of Methodist Hospital for 25 years and the board of Provident National Bank for 26 years.
He was a lifelong member of Lima Methodist Church and a founding member of the Hershey Men's Bible Class at the church.
Mr. Habbersett also was a member of the Bartrum Masonic Lodge and the masonic Hi Twelve group.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Habbersett is survived by his wife, Ruth Barton Habbersett; son, Gary; daughters, Linda Habbersett Youngstrom, Susan L. and Carolyn A.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
