Notes for Paul MALONEY

Paul Maloney, 93, of Bryn Mawr, a retired Center City fiduciary lawyer and former president of the Citizens Crime Commission of Philadelphia, died at his home Monday of complications from diabetes.
Mr. Maloney practiced for more than 40 years, specializing in administering estates and trusts. He started in 1936 with the Center City law firm of Evans, Bayard & Frick and remained there until the start of World War II, when he entered the Navy.
He was assigned to the Navy's Office of the General Counsel in Washington.
After his discharge, Mr. Maloney joined his old firm, which later became Pepper Hamilton, and remained there until retiring in 1975.
In the late 1960s, Mr. Maloney served as president of the Crime Commission. He also was president of the Landmarks Society, and was a board member of Friends' Central School.
He enjoyed skiing, golf and hiking, which he continued to pursue well into his 80s.
He was a 1924 graduate of Friends' Central, and studied a year at Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass. He earned a bachelor's degree in history in 1930 from Princeton University and a law degree in 1933 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
He clerked for state Supreme Court Justice William B. Linn for a year before embarking on his career.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Virginia Wells Maloney; son Clifton H.W.; daughter Virginia M. Lawrence; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held later in Blue Mountain Lake, N.Y. Burial will be private.
