Notes for Ella Mae BULLOCK
Ellamae B. ""Mae'' Flounders, 80, of Media, a former secretary in the Rose Tree Media School District, died Sept. 26 at Riddle Memorial Hospital, Middletown.
Born and raised in Media, Mrs. Flounders lived her entire life in the Media area. She was a 1933 graduate of former Media High School and was an active alumnus.
She worked as a secretary in the Rose Tree Media School District for 20 years before retiring in 1974. Later, she was employed as a legal secretary in Philadelphia.
A member of the First United Methodist Church, Media, since 1926, Mrs. Flounders was active with the United Methodist Women and was a participating member of the Methodist Home for Children, Philadelphia. She also taught Sunday school and worked with the pastoral relations committee at church.
An active volunteer with the American Red Cross during World War II, Mrs. Flounders was a descendant of Thomas Minshall. She served as a guide at Tyler Arboretum Latchford Hall as well as at the Minshall House, Media. She also was active with the Upper Providence Senior Citizens Association and served as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
A former member of the Rose Tree Fire Co. Auxiliary, Mrs. Flounders enjoyed doing hand work and crossword puzzles and loved to travel.
Widow of Clyde M. Flounders, she is survived by a son, Donald C. Flounders of Media; a daughter, Linda F. Leiby of Media; two grandchildren; and three sisters.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, State and Lemon streets, Media, with a calling hour 10 to 11 a.m. in the church chapel. Burial will be in Media Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Rigby, Harting & Hagan Funeral Home, Media.
