MAURICE A. WEBSTER SR., 96, a civil engineer and entrepreneur, died Saturday at the Foulkeways retirement community in Gwynedd Valley, Montgomery County. Mr. Webster, who had been a resident of Germantown for many years, spent his last several years at the retirement community.
A graduate of Friends Select School, he received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1909. He designed and supervised the construction of many manufacturing structures in the city. For many years he operated from his Suburban Station office.
Mr. Webster belonged to the Union League, according to relatives, where he had been one of the league's oldest living members. He served on the board of trustees for the Friends Select School in Northeast Philadelphia and on the board of trustees for the Germantown Friends School.
He also served as treasurer of the Mantoloking Yacht Club in Mantoloking, N.J., where he and his family spent many summers.
Survivors: sons, Maurice A. Webster Jr. and George S.; daughters, Mrs. Jane Merrill and Mrs. Helen Peterkin; nine grandchildren, and eight great- grandchildren.
Services: Private. Memorial service, Wednesday, 11 a.m., Germantown Friends Meeting, Germantown.
