Thomas Rundle Neilson Jr., 85, a former Philadelphia insurance broker, died Tuesday night at his home in Devon.
A member of a prominent family, he was the son of Dr. Thomas R. and Louise Fotterall Neilson. Raised in Center City, he was educated at Episcopal Academy and the University of Pennsylvania.
He worked for a time in the insurance and brokerage fields before moving to a quieter life in the suburbs.
Interested in Chester County civic affairs, he served two terms as an Easttown Township supervisor in the 1940s and 1950s.
Mr. Neilson suffered a stroke some years ago. As a result, his movement was somewhat limited, and for the last decade he seldom left his home.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Schenck Neilson; son, Thomas R. 3d, and daughters, Louisa Plummer and Susan.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Old St. Davids Episcopal Church. He will be buried in the family plot there.
