Bonney H. Smith July 13, 1929 ~ October 19, 2010 CARMEL - Bonney always had a nice smile, a great determination to plan and execute the task at hand, and a wonderful sense of humor. She was born in Portland, OR to Milton and Cynthia Henderson, the youngest of four children. She graduated from Catlin-Gabel School in Portland and attended Dominican and Reed Colleges. She went into retail and became a Buyer at age 24, where she worked for major department and specialty stores in the Northwest. When she met her husband, Fred, in the early 70s, they moved to San Francisco, where she worked as an Account Specialist for Vanity Fair. They moved to the Peninsula in 1983 and she served as CEO of DSS, a consulting company that she and her husband founded. She retired in 1995 to travel extensively and enjoy her hobby of gourmet cooking. She volunteered with the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula Auxiliary for 11 years, primarily in the Gift Shop and in other Board positions. She also served on the Monterey State Historical Park Board and in their Gift Shop. She is survived by her husband, Fred; a stepson, Andrew of Los Angeles; two nieces, Sally Rove and Cynthia Sherburne of Portland; one nephew, Daniel Babbitt of Langley, WA; and numerous great nieces and nephews in Oregon. No services will be held and it is suggested that contributions be made to American Lung Association on her behalf.
