Notes for William Cloud Jr. MOORE
William C. Moore Jr., 80, of Oxnard passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, in Camarillo, after a brief illness.
William was born June 23, 1923, in Kokomo, Ind., and had been an eight-year county resident, coming from Diamond Bar, Calif.
In addition to being a proud World War II Navy veteran, he retired from Pacific Bell as a senior engineer after 40 years of service. William was very involved in Santa Clara Church and with its Seniors Club. He also held an active membership in the Pacific Bell Pioneers Club. William loved horse racing, coin collecting and traveling. He was affectionately known as "Beach Bum Bill" by all his friends.
He was preceded in death by his son James Moore in 1981.
William is survived by his sister, Patricia Gilmore; stepdaughter, Kathleen Hurt; daughter, Janet Moore; son Richard Moore; granddaughter, Sheri Hurt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Santa Clara Church in Oxnard. Burial will follow at San Fernando Mission Cemetery in San Fernando, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in William's name to the American Diabetes Association, 10114 Jamestown St., Ventura, CA 93003.
