Notes for Ralph Ivins MENDENHALL

MENDENHALL, RALPH IVINS 87 - of Ocean City, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at The Shores at Wesley Manor in Ocean City. Born in Avondale, PA, he was formerly of Sea Isle City, for many years, and was a resident of Ocean City for eight years. He received his B.S. degree in Physics from Ursinus College. Mr. Mendenhall was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Marines in Okinawa and China. He was a member of American Legion Post #0198, Cape May Court House, and was a past member of Marine Corp League in Ocean City. He worked as a Business Manager for Girard College in Philadelphia, PA for 16 years before his retirement in 1987. Mr. Mendenhall was a member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church, was a former member of Sea Isle City United Methodist Men where he served as Past Secretary and Past President, a member of Gideon Bible Society, Cape May County, where he served as Faith Fund Chairman. He was the Past President of Sea Isle City AARP, a member of Promise Keepers, and had attended Marriage Encounter weekends with his wife. Mr. Mendenhall was a former Pack Master for Cub Scouts in Lansdowne, PA. He was Former President of Resident Counsel at Shores at Wesley Manor and had coordinated church based Pennies for Potatoes Charity. He was the Co-Founder and First President of the Mendenhall Family Genealogy Association. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Marion D. Mendenhall (nee Dunlap) of Ocean City, three sons, Walter D. Mendenhall of Annapolis, MD, Edward I. Mendenhall of Santa Cruz, CA, Henry H. Mendenhall of Manalapan, four grandchildren, two great- grandchildren, a brother, James H. Mendenhall of Malvern, PA, and a sister, Alice King of State College, PA. A Service of Memory and Love will be offered Tuesday afternoon, (today) at one o'clock from the Chapel at the Shores at Wesley Manor, 2201 Bay Avenue, Ocean City, NJ. The family suggests those who desire send memorial contributions to either CFS the School at Church Farm, 1001 East Lincoln Highway, Exton, PA 19341-2818 or the Fellowship Fund, The Shores at Wesley Manor, 2201 Bay Avenue, Ocean City, NJ 08226.
