Notes for D. Kenneth THOMPSON

D. Kenneth Thompson, 89, of West Grove, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at Brandywine Hall Care Center, West Chester.
Born Dec. 8, 1919, in Green Valley, Newlin Township, he was the son of the late Harry T. Thompson and the late Iva Freeman Thompson.
A graduate of Unionville High School, class of 1938, he earned his bachelor of science and master's degrees from Penn State University.
After graduation, he returned to the home farm to continue the family farming and butchering operation.
After a farming accident in 1954, he was invited to come and teach at Oxford Area High School, where he stayed for 30 years, teaching vocational agriculture. Mr. Thompson retired from his teaching career in 1984.
He was chairman of the Penn Township Zoning Hearing Board for 30 years.
He married Anne L. Taylor in 1946 and had two children, Barbara T. Nagel of Downingtown and Harry K. Thompson of Exton. Mr. Thompson had six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was also married to Verna Sheffield. He has a sister, Evelyn M. Davidheiser of Reinholds; a brother, Floyd B. "Spike" Thompson of Unionville; and a brother, the late Harold E. Thompson.
Mr. Thompson particularly enjoyed gardening at home and traveling to agricultural events with his friends.
Services and interment will be private.
