Notes for Dorothy YARNALL

Dorothy Yarnall Dougherty, 77, of Elverson, passed away quietly in her home on Pine Street in the presence of her loving husband, family and faithful cat, Puff.
She is survived by her dear husband of 56 years, John F. Dougherty; her son, Dr. Raymond Dougherty of Vacaville, Calif.; her daughter, Leslie Solomon of Ellicott City, Md.; daughter-in-law, Lisa Dougherty; son-in-law, Carl Solomon; and five grandchildren, Jonathon, Kevin, Joshua, Jason and Sydney.
"Dottie" was born in West Grove in 1932, daughter of the late Augustus Joshua Yarnall and Alice Baker Yarnall of Cochranville.
She attended West Fallowfield High School (class of 1949) and graduated from Millersville State College in 1953.
She taught kindergarten and second grade for the Chichester and West Chester Area school districts. She completed her career at Glen Acres Elementary School in West Chester until her retirement in 1992.
She was a longtime member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the National Education Association.
She was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church in West Chester and, most recently, Living God Lutheran Church in Honey Brook.
In addition to sewing, her greatest interests were her church and spending time with her children and grandchildren, in whom she took great pride.
Relatives and friends are invited to join in a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 730 S. New St., West Chester, with a luncheon to follow.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
Burial will be private.
