Notes for Henrietta Louise DARLINGTON

HENRIETTA CORIN
AGE 88 . BEACH HAVEN
Henrietta ("Henny'') Darlington Corin, 88, formerly of Media, PA and Westfield, died Feb. 11 in her home in Beach Haven, surrounded by loved ones, after a long illness.
Born in Media on June 26, 1920, she was the daughter of Henry Saulnier Darlington and Louise Keene Corkran.
She graduated from Media High School and attended Wildcliff Junior College.
She operated a day care on the Beach Haven boardwalk with the late Virginia Taggert the summer she met her beloved "Mag,'' Magnus Harland Corin. They were married in Media the following May, 1941.
During World War II, Henny followed Mag to various military bases until he was ordered to Hawaii for the duration. At the close of the war, they settled in Media, where Henny had been living with family. In 1958, Henny and Mag moved to Westfield, a suburb of New York City, where Mag had been transferred by Mobil International. He spent the next 20 years commuting to New York and traveling abroad extensively on company business. Henny frequently accompanied Mag on these trips, after raising their three daughters.
As longtime summer residents of Long Beach Island, Henny and Mag ultimately built a home in Beach Haven in 1972, retiring there in 1975. They especially enjoyed summer and fall in Beach Haven, often entertaining Mag's fraternity brothers and hosting Henny's high school reunions. Their lives were full and blessed, fishing and boating with family and friends off the shores of Long Beach Island and wintering in Florida until Mag's passing in March of 1987..
Henny, affectionately known as "Mom-Mom'' by her family, was predeceased by her husband of 46 years and by two of her daughters, Keene Driscoll and Georgeanna McGall. She also was predeceased by two of her brothers, Jared Darlington and Henry Saulnier Darlington Jr.
She is survived by a brother, Walter Corkran Darlington; a sister, Anne Sweney, and a daughter, Juliana Corin Books. She also is survived by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren, Kimberly Driscoll, Christopher Driscoll, Lisa Doddy, William Books, Maggie Milano, John William McGall, Amber Litz, Benjamin Doddy, Jacob Doddy, Annie Milano and Christopher Milano.
Henny was a member of Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church in Beach Haven and the New Life Community Church in West Creek. She was active in the local chapter of the Daughters of the King and the Episcopal Church Women of Holy Innocents'. For nearly 30 years, she attended a weekly Bible study and prayer group until illness prevented her from participating.
She was a member and former secretary of the Beach Haven Tax Payers Association. She belonged to the Webster Lagoon Association, the Island Singers, and volunteered at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin, for more than 25 years.
Henny loved her family, Christmas, Fricky Doggy, fishing, football (especially Penn State); the 4th of July, fireworks and hugs. She made her house a home and a haven for family and friends and was proud to be an American.
Memorial services will be held at Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church and the New Life Community Church at the convenience of the family.
