Henry F. Marcus Jr.
"Hank" Marcus, husband of Mary L. Marcus passed away at his home on Thursday, January 15, 2009.
He was born in 1923, in Pennsylvania. He graduated from West Chester State Teacher's College and taught biology, chemistry and history. A veteran of the United States Army, he served in North Africa and Italy in World War II. Hank retired from Hopeman Brothers in 1986 as a corporate safety supervisor after 26 years of service. Hank was an avid golfer and past president of the golf association, Waynesboro Country Club, of which he was 1997 club champion, among many other awards.
He was preceded in death by a son, Henry F. Marcus III of Waynesboro and a brother, Robert Marcus of Gainsville, Florida.
He is survived by Mary, his wife of 63 years; his son, David L. Marcus and his wife, Sharon, of Waynesboro; his sister, Mary Young of Pennsylvania; granddaughter, Holly Marcus, and great-grandson, Alex Peele, both of Hatteras, North Carolina; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are welcome to visit the family at the Marcus home, 1220 Rosser Avenue, Waynesboro, 22980.
