- Mrs. Clauda Maye Pennock Todd, died Tuesday, June 29, 1999 at Cypress Glen Retirement Community. A memorial service will be held later in Greenville.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodward Hill Cemetery in Lancaster, Pennsylva- nia.

Mrs. Todd was born in Christiana, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis P. Pen- nock of Lancaster, PA. She graduated from Christiana High School and the Pennsylvania Business College in Lancaster. She was affiliated with the Pennsylvania Casualty Company and Armstrong World Industries, Inc., and prior to moving to Greenville in 1950 she was in the employ of the Department of Alumni Affairs, Duke University. While in Lancaster she was an active member of St.
Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church, Circle A Club, and Para- mont Club. In Greenville she was a member of Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity.

For 52 years she was the wife of Dr. Richard C. Todd, who died July 18, 1993. Dr. Todd was an author and professor emeritus of History at East Carolina University.

In 1969, Tau Chapter of Phi Sigma Pi Honor Fraternity established the Richard Cecil Todd and Clauda Pennock Todd Scholarships at East Carolina University. In 1970 she and her husband established the Richard Cecil Todd and Clauda Pennock Todd Scholarships for Outstanding Basketball Players at Millersville University, Millersville, PA. In 1984, they established the Richard Cecil Todd and Clauda Pennock Todd Endowment at East Carolina University and in 1986 the Richard Cecil Todd and Clauda Pennock Todd Endowment at Millersville University.

In 1977 Mrs. Todd was honored as the first woman in the United States to be inducted into Phi Sigma Pi. In 1988 she was made an Honorary East Carolina University Alumna. In 1992 Dr. and Mrs. Todd were recognized for their generosity by the Board of Trustees at East Carolina University the naming of the Richard Cecil Todd and Clauda Pennock Todd Dining Hall.

Mrs. Todd is survived by her brother, Malvern B. Pennock of Arlington, Virginia.

It is requested that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richard Cecil Todd and Clauda Pennock Todd Endowment Foundation, Inc. East Carolina University, Greenville, NC 27858.
