Notes for Thomas IV TURNBULL

Thomas Turnbull, IV, age 85, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, in Plano, TX. He had been a resident of Plano since 2007. Tom was born on October 23, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Thomas Turnbull, III and Clara Howard Turnbull. After service in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II, he graduated from Syracuse University in 1951 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for ten years in Research and Development with U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh and for thirty years at Mobile Pulley and Machine Works, Mobile, AL, as a design and safety engineer. Throughout his life he served his church faithfully as an elder, deacon, and tenor in the choir. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Julia McMillan Turnbull; daughter Julia Turnbull Haun and her husband, W. Michael Haun; son Gordon Alexander Turnbull and his wife, Elizabeth Thomas Turnbull; daughter Harriet Byram Turnbull; grandchildren Julia Lake Bozone, Kathryn Elizabeth Haun, William Robert Haun and his wife Melissa, Gordon Alexander Turnbull, Jr., Thomas Murphy Turnbull and his wife Caroline, and John Russell Turnbull; great-grandchildren William Cooper Haun and James Reid Haun; sister, Silence Turnbull Roth; and brother, Richard Benton Turnbull. A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 5, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church Richardson. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to First Presbyterian Church, 271 Walton St., Richardson, TX 75081 or Spring Hill Presbyterian Church, 10 Westminster Way, Mobile, AL 36608.
