Notes for Anna Dike RIDDLE

Mrs. Thomas A. Scott, widow of Colonel Scott, who was President of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, died yesterday at her residence on South Rittenhouse square, Philadelphia. Mrs. Scott's illness dates back some six months, when she returned from Bar Harbor. Since then she failed steadily until a few days ago, when it was seen that the end was near. In the death of Mrs. Scott Philadelphia's fashionable society loses one of its charming leaders. It is more than three decades since that, as Miss Anna D. Riddle of Pittsburg, she met Colonel Scott and won his heart to a devotion that ended only with his death 20 years ago. Mrs. Scott's country place was at Lansdowne. She also had a summer home at Bar Harbor. The surviving children are: Edgar T. Scott, whose wife was Miss Mary Howard Sturgis; Mrs. Mary D. Newbold, the wife of Clement Buckley Newbold, and two step-children, Mrs. Jose Thropp and Mr. James P. Scott. Mrs. Scott's sister, who was Miss Bessie Riddle, is the wife of Mr. George Harrison Fisher.
