Notes for William STOVEY

William STOVEY (1625 Aberry,Wilts-MM, d 7.11.1705 bur. at Cummerell Wilts.) of Hilperton (Helperton Marsh near Trowbridge).
Imprisoned 1679 for over a year for refusing to pay tithes. In 1683 he had 43 sheep taken from him for preaching at a meeting at Devizes, Wilts. At other times his cattle and his property including his bed were confiscated.
