Notes for Phebe MENDENHALL

Phebe Mendenhall Thomas, was one of the most remarkable women of Chester County, Pa. She was born July 7, 1770, and died Jan.19, 1875, at the age of 104. She lived through the battle of Brandywine in 1777 and the battle of Gettysburg in 1863, and the surrender of Lee at Appomattox recalled to her memory the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown.
